Thinking about an electric vehicle for the first time can raise a lot of questions. How far does it go? How long does it take to charge? Which size makes sense for my household? Hyundai’s 2027 lineup answers those questions with four electric models, each built for a different kind of driver.
This article walks you through the 2027 Hyundai EV family one model at a time. You will see what each vehicle offers, how the numbers compare and which features every model shares. Think of it as a friendly starting point before you visit a showroom.
Four Electric Models in One Lineup
The 2027 Hyundai EV lineup includes the KONA Electric, the IONIQ 5, the IONIQ 5 N and the IONIQ 9. They range from a compact crossover to a three-row family SUV, with batteries from 64.8 kWh to 110.3 kWh and rated ranges from 356 km to 515 km.
The KONA Electric uses front-wheel drive, while the IONIQ 5, IONIQ 5 N and IONIQ 9 all use dual motors and all-wheel drive. That gives shoppers a clear choice between a light, efficient daily driver and dual-motor models with more power.
The KONA Electric: Hyundai’s Compact EV
The 2027 KONA Electric is the smallest member of the family and a natural first EV. A single front motor delivers 150 kW (201 hp) and 188 lb-ft of torque, and the 64.8 kWh battery is rated for 420 km of range. Its combined efficiency rating is 2.0 Le/100 km.
The KONA Electric comes in three versions: Preferred, Preferred with Trend Package and Preferred with Ultimate Package. Every one includes a 31.2 cm touchscreen with navigation, remote start on the key fob and Hyundai SmartSense driver assistance.
- 420 km rated range from a 64.8 kWh battery
- 723 L of cargo space, or 1,803 L with the rear seats folded
- Level 2 charging from 10% to 100% in about 6 hours and 5 minutes
The IONIQ 5: Hyundai’s Midsize Electric SUV

The 2027 IONIQ 5 is a roomy five-seater with a long 3,000 mm wheelbase. Its dual motors produce 239 kW (320 hp) and 446 lb-ft of torque through all-wheel drive, and its 84 kWh battery is rated for 463 km of range.
Charging is one of the IONIQ 5’s strongest points. On a 350 kW charger, the battery goes from 10% to 80% in about 18 minutes. At home, a Level 2 charger fills it from 10% to 100% in about 7 hours and 20 minutes. Inside, you get 745 L of cargo space behind the rear seats and a 24 L front trunk.
The IONIQ 5 N: Hyundai’s High-Performance EV
The 2027 IONIQ 5 N takes the IONIQ 5’s 84 kWh battery and adds serious power. Its dual motors make 448 kW (601 hp), or 478 kW (641 hp) with N Grin Boost. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h takes 3.5 seconds, or 3.4 seconds with N Grin Boost.
The IONIQ 5 N comes with drive modes ranging from Eco and Normal to N and two N Custom settings. It is rated for 356 km of range and keeps the IONIQ 5’s 18-minute fast-charge time on a 350 kW charger.
The IONIQ 9: Three Rows and Up to Seven Seats
The 2027 IONIQ 9 is the largest Hyundai EV. It comes in three all-wheel-drive trims: Preferred AWD, Luxury AWD and Ultimate Calligraphy AWD+. All three use a 110.3 kWh battery.
The Preferred AWD and Luxury AWD make 303 hp and are rated for 515 km, the longest range in the 2027 Hyundai lineup. The Ultimate Calligraphy AWD+ produces 422 hp and is rated for 500 km. Seating is for seven in the first two trims and six in the Ultimate Calligraphy AWD+, which uses second-row captain’s chairs. A 350 kW charger takes the battery from 10% to 80% in about 24 minutes.
